Introduction
I was looking for a secondary monitor for my laptop when I'm on the go, primarily for productivity reasons so I can run multiple apps side by side. I had several criteria: a bright screen, 4K resolution, and overall just good display quality. So I picked up this 15.6-inch 4k monitor from UPERFECT, and it almost perfectly fits the bill; basically, it checks most boxes for the price. Now, you can connect pretty much any device to it, whether it's a lot. It's a laptop and an Xbox PlayStation or an Amazon Fire Stick. If you want to, just watch movies, just a side note.
Specifications
So, what do we have here? It's a 4K 60 Hertz capable 15 6 dot-inch monitor with 99% sRGB coverage. You might have heard of Adobe RGB before. But the thing is sRGB, that is the standard color space on most devices that you'll probably ever encounter, that the monitor has 300 nits of brightness, which is decent. If you look at the higher-end laptops, like a MacBook Pro or a Dell XPS. They have anywhere between 380 and 500 nits. So I figure this monitor will stack up very well in comparison, especially since my primary utility monitor is an "endorsement" and I would venture a guess, yours is too. The screen is an IPS HD panel with a 178-degree viewing angle, enclosed in an all-aluminum body. With a contrast ratio of 1,000 to 1, in case you didn't know, HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It basically gives you a wider range of colors and overall a much better picture. Of course, your video source has to support it anyway with IPS or in-plane switching, then you'll get a significantly better view. Angle versus non-IPS panel 178 degrees for this particular device, as I mentioned before, and you'll also get better color, accuracy, and consistency. Now, as far as resolution goes, you could argue that you don't need 4K in such a small form factor, but I just want to have that option since my eyesight hasn't deteriorated enough where I couldn't go at least 1440p anyway. Plus, I think the overall picture quality is just better and these monitors are available in 10. DP is fine if that's what your heart desires.
Advanced
UPERFECT also indicates in aspects that they have low blue light and anti-flicker technology, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes. I haven't encountered it that often before, so I don't really know how effective this is in the real world, if you have, let me know in the comments below. Now, if you're interested in gaming, there are a few things you'll probably be interested in. This monitor supports AMD Free Sync, which synchronizes the refresh rate of your graphics card with the monitor. So you also don't have that terrible screen tearing, the refresh rate is only 3 seconds, which I think is quite decent for a portable monitor.
Audio and VESA
Okay, now for the audio, the monitor has two built-in speakers. But the sound quality is just okay. There is an audio stereo output port. So you can connect your headphones or external speakers. Another interesting thing about this monitor is that it has these VESA mounting holes, so you can mount it on the wall or whatever.
Interfaces
Let's look at all the ports now, it has a standard HDMI port. A mini Display Port, two USB ports, one of which is powered, so you can transmit video audio and power through the same cable. It also supports the Thunderbolt 3 standard and in addition, there's a headphone speaker port here. One thing I want to mention is that you need to supply the monitor with at least 45 watts of power to be able to display 4K at 60 Hertz. Let's look at the other side here. We have a micro USB port with OTG support, so you can connect the mouse and keyboard. If you wish. Now, what about all these silver mini buttons? You can't tell what they do without looking at the back of the monitor. And the problem is that the back is usually covered by the case. Anyway, the first button is power, the next one below it is supposed to be for volume and brightness control. I still haven't figured out how to adjust the volume without going into the menu. With these buttons, I can only regulate the brightness. See, anyway, the menu button is the next one here and you can also see the exit button.
Drawbacks
Now for the biggest drawbacks, my biggest problem with this monitor is actually its weight. It's about two pounds, it's by no means terrible, but in the world of two-pound laptops, it seems like one pound would be more appropriate, and this particular model doesn't even have a battery. And I think the one that has a battery weight of over 5 pounds isn't necessarily a deal-breaker anyway, at least not for me. Let me quickly go through what you get in the box now. The case that you either have on the monitor, which you can also use as a stand. An HDMI to USB type C cable, 45-watt power adapter and a manual and that's about it. Now, as far as pricing goes, you can expect to pay between 200 and 300 dollars for this model. It really depends on where you buy it. Also, picking up a unit would save you some money. And on top of that, there are several manufacturers to choose from. You don't necessarily have to choose UPERFECT.
Conclusion
Let's see what the picture looks like on it. Okay, let me show you how videos play on this monitor. So what I have here is an Amazon Fire Stick. This is a 4K Fire Stick by the way. And so you know it's a 4K device, the word Amazon is not on it. It just has the logo. So let's just turn on YouTube. So I think the colors look great. I mean, this is 4K 60 frames per second HDR. All right, and that's it for this review. I'm curious what your experiences with portable monitors are. And if you bought one, which one did you get? And what do you use it for? I would be very happy if you subscribe to my channel and hit the like button. All right. See you soon. And of course, thank you for watching.
